African Centre Scotland (ACS) and Malawian Initiative for National Development (MIND) are pleased to present “Global Awareness & Action on Africa as part of this year’s Africa Day Celebrations at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.
Africa Centre Scotland (ACS) exists to unite people of African heritage living in Scotland so that they are able to form a strong voice, raising their profile, influence decision making, improving their health, cultural and social wellbeing while at the same time contributing to the society within which they live. Africa centre Scotland is also concerned about development issues in Africa and supports Diaspora volunteering among other institutions.
Malawian Initiative for National Development (MIND) is a Diaspora led international development organisation whose mission is to mobilize resources and skills amongst the Diaspora for development projects in Africa and raising global issues to policy drivers and the wider UK public.
Africa Day is commemorated on 25th May every year in most of the 52 states which are members of the African Union (AU). It commemorates the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in 1963, which became the African Union in July 2002 after amalgamating with the African Economic Community.
