Come and be part of a large human CND/peace symbol in the heart of Glasgow. Event starts at 11 am in George Square on Saturday 17 September, and we become the symbol at 12 .00. Calling all Peace Groups to contact friends, family colleagues as well as all members. Bring a camera, this is for posterity!

Over the last two months, Brazilians have witnessed an alarming assault on the Amazon and the people who live there.

* The government approved construction of the disastrous Belo Monte Dam, allowing heavy machinery to break ground on the banks of the Xingu River.
* The Brazilian Congress is on the verge of approving a major rollback of the Brazilian Forestry Code, already causing a huge spike in deforestation.
* Leading forest guardians have been victims of murder and intimidation.

The right to free movement across the continent and to move across the Schengen area without border controls are two of the foundations of European citizenship. They are amongst the most popular European achievements and the most widely recognised. We refuse that these rights should be put in question by some of the most influential politicians in Europe and by the national governments.
