This group was established in the Lanarkshire town of Biggar in mid 2005, by a handful of individuals, concerned that not enough was being done by the Government to educate people fully on the potential impacts of climate change and to provide practical tips and solutions to help mitigate the problem.
Their aim is to get this message across using any means at their disposal. They also intend to lobby politicians, media people and celebrities to get involved in the campaign and assist them to spread the message to a wider audience.
The Scottish Catholic Justice and Peace Commission was formed in 1979. It is the Scottish Commission of the Pontifical Council Justitia et Pax.
From the outset, the Commission combined its function as the Bishops' advisory body on issues of social justice, international peace and human rights with the responsibility for networking existing newly formed local parish groups.
